Conspiracy theories surrounding
death of U.S. Supreme Court
Justice Antonin Scalia
Events on Friday, 2015-FEB-12:
Justice Scalia, 79, was at Cibolo Creek Ranch -- a resort in Presidio County, West Texas. He had been suffering from several chronic health problems in recent years. Scalia was with friends planning on a hunting trip the next morning. He had been offered a security detail by the U.S. Marshals Service during his trip, but had declined. Feeling ill that evening, he went to bed early. When Scalia did not join the party the next morning, John Poindexter, the owner of the resort, investigated. He found Justice Scalia dead in his bed, His head was under a pillow, perhaps to block noise. 1
The local police were called. They contacted Judge Cinderela Guevara by phone and told her that there were no signs of any foul play.
According to Vishakha Sonawane, writing for the International Business Times, Judge Guevara had spoken:
"... with Rear Adm. Brian P. Monahan — an attending physician for the U.S. Congress and Supreme Court members — who told her [that] Scalia visited the doctor's office on both Wednesday and Thursday before heading to Texas, and had an MRI scan of his shoulder. ... Monahan also told Guevara that Scalia was too weak to undergo the surgery that was required, and that he recommended rehabilitation." 2
In accordance with Texas law, Judge Guevara declared that Justice Scalia had died of natural causes without having first observed the body herself, or having a medically trained person inspect the body. Having learned from his doctor about the general bad health of Justice Scalia, she did not order an autopsy. His family was strongly opposed to an autopsy.
The death of any major federal government official is likely to trigger conspiracy theorists across the country. That was made more probable by an invalid report in some media that the pillow was over his face. CNN later clarified this by explaining that the pillow was simply over his head, not over his face. This confusion triggered speculation that he was smothered by a professional assassin. That is most unlikely, because even an amateur assassin would have been careful to remove the pillow afterwards to avoid raising suspicions.
Events on FEB- 14:
Alex Jones, described by Mother Jones as a "... noted conspiracy theorist and conservative talk show host," may have been the first to suggest that Justice Scalia was murdered. He said:
"You just get used to this: 'Scalia found, it's natural, nothing going on here, he just died naturally. Then you realize, Obama is just one vote away from being able to ban guns, open the borders, and actually have the court engage in its agenda, and now Scalia dies. My gut tells me they killed him, and all the intellectual evidence lays it out." 1
William Richie is the former head of criminal investigations for the police department in Washington, DC. He wrote on Facebook:
"As a former homicide commander, I am stunned that no autopsy was ordered for Justice Scalia. ..."
"How can the Marshal say, without a thorough post mortem, that he was not injected with an illegal substance that would simulate a heart attack. ..."
"Did the US Marshal check for petechial hemorrhage in his eyes or under his lips that would have suggested suffocation? Did the US Marshal smell his breath for any unusual odor that might suggest poisoning? My gut tells me there is something fishy going on in Texas." 1
Events on FEB-15:
Republican presidential hopeful, Donald Trump, picked up the conspiracy theory. On Michael Savage's radio program, "Savage Nation," Trump referred to Scalia's death as "pretty unusual ... It's a horrible topic, but they say they found a pillow on his face, which is a pretty unusual place to find a pillow." 1
Andrew Wilkow hosts the "Wilkow Majority" on Sirius satellite radio's Patriot Channel. He commented:
"The unwrinkled bed clothes and the pillow over the head, over the face. This is odd. It's just odd. Given that this is a Supreme Court justice and we are seeing the waning months of a presidential term where the president's only way, his only way, his only avenue to complete his agenda is through a series of 5-4 rulings. An opening on the bench would give him that."
"Hmm, how would that happen? It's just a little too, how you say, coincidental? That the only thing standing in the way of Barack Obama's agenda being fully completed in the next 11 months is a potentially divided court that goes 5-4 against him. Just, you know, little coincidental. ... It would be highly irresponsible of me to sit here and accuse the president of the United States of murdering a Supreme Court justice. It's still coincidental. Just a little too coincidental." 1
Rick Wales, host of the end times radio program "Trunews"" suggested that a "possible occult connection" may be involved in Justice Scalia's death. He noted that the three-day ancient Roman festival of Lupercalia started FEB-13 -- the date when Justice Scalia's death was discovered. Wales believes that "Luciferian devil worshipers" control the federal government and that Scalia was killed to indicate the beginning of Pagan fascism taking over control of the United States. He said:
"There’s always human sacrifice involved. ... The 13th was the 44th day of 2016. Obama is the 44th president of the United States, so you have this numerology thing taking place. ... “
[The assassins] deliberately left the pillow on his face as a message to everybody else: ‘Don’t mess with us, we can murder a justice and get away with it.’ And I assure you, there’s a lot of frightened officials in Washington today, deep down they know, the regime murdered a justice. ... This is the way a dictatorial, fascist, police state regime takes control of a nation.
The day the justice died, the day justice in America died. They got away with it." 3
At the time that this essay was originally written, four days have passed, and there doesn't seem to be any obvious indication that such a massive shift in United States politics has happened.
Events on FEB-16:
Morga Mayhew, writing for Liberty News Now suggested that Democratic presidential hopeful, Hillary Clinton, was responsible for Scalia's death. The reasoning was that if Hillary became president, and there was a vacancy on the Supreme Court, she could nominate President Obama to the post. However, this would require that one of the existing Justices -- preferably one of the conservative Justices -- either die or resign. 4
The New York Daily News prepared the following video which can be seen on You Tube:
Event on FEB-17:
Dave Hodges, writing for the Investment Watch Blog, said:
"One of the most amazing facts surrounding this 'mystery death' is that Scalia’s body was cremated before an autopsy could be performed. Cremated? Wasn’t Scalia a Catholic? The last time I heard, Catholics do not sanction cremations. The regulations against cremation is one of the strongest within the Catholic Church. However, criminals with something to hide frequently burn the body after the commission of a crime. This fact, alone, should have triggered a major murder investigation. ... Charred bodies yield no autopsy clues." 5
Hodges is partially correct. The Roman Catholic Church once banned cremation. However, they lifted the ban over a half century ago, as long as cremation was performed after the funeral Mass. That final restriction was ended almost twenty years ago, in 1997. 6
"Scalia was the major impediment to Obama completing his legacy of ushering in technocracy. This, alone, is motive for murder. And when an autopsy is not conducted on a Supreme Court Justice, and then his 'Catholic' body his cremated, we should all be more than suspicious."
He defines technocracy as:
"... the take over of all energy use, thus, ultimately, all finance, through programs such as capping CO2 emission, Cap and Trade, etc. Carbon credits, under this system is destined to become the new currency."
Events on FEB-18:
Bryan Fischer, host of the American Family Association's radio program Focal Point seems to have rejected a murder conspiracy, and asserted that God was responsible for Justice Scalia's death:
"I believe God took Antonin Scalia home. Antonin Scalia shows up and God says:
'Well done, good and faithful servant, you lived out every one of the days that I had written for you in my book, welcome home.'
And the timing of this, I believe, God was arranging so that the issue in this election would be focused on the Supreme Court, so that the Supreme Court replacement would be the defining issue of this campaign. Because God knows that we're running out of chances, this is God in His grace calling Antonin Scalia home to his reward in order to make this the defining issue of the 2016 campaign." 7
Any speculation would have easily been put to rest by an autopsy. We need to change our laws so that all jurisdictions have the same guidelines for staffing, funding, accreditation and certification of personnel trained in death investigation. This is a matter of public health and justice."
Judy Melinek, writing an opinion piece for CNN, expressed concern at the lack of skilled investigations after a person's death. She said of Justice Scalia's death:
"Any speculation would have easily been put to rest by an autopsy. We need to change our laws so that all jurisdictions have the same guidelines for staffing, funding, accreditation and certification of personnel trained in death investigation. This is a matter of public health and justice. ..."
"If we don't do something about the state of forensic sciences in this country, homicides will continue to be missed and conspiracy theories will continue to thrive whenever any prominent figure dies of natural causes in the absence of a forensic death investigation.
Now that a murky, rushed death certification has marred the passing of one of the very highest legal figures in the United States, shouldn't we do something about it?" 8
